Description
Low clouds press over the Sumida River, casting Tokyo in suspended grey. Three traditional vessels bob against the concrete embankment — wooden hulls and red-lacquered roofs, a stubborn echo of old Edo amid glass and steel. The Asahi billboard looms overhead. A blue bridge spans the haze-softened water.
No passengers board today. The boats wait, tethered and patient, in a city between storms of activity. Muted light flatters nothing and reveals everything — weathered wood, river wall patina, the dignity of function over form.
