Description
A woman in a haori coat moves through the festival crowd with her back turned, a solitary figure against the mass of masked faces and red banners pulsing in the autumn night. Yellow police tape cordons off the flow at the tension line between ceremony and spectacle.
The space between the stillness of temples and the neon of downtown. Amber streetlight bathes everything in warmth while layers compress: authority figure, solitary walker, anonymous crowd. The organized meets the organic, and a single figure becomes the axis around which the festival quietly rotates.
